ROES Desktop Windows Update - September 8, 2023
Due to a change at Amazon S3 the beginning of this month, new installations of ROES Desktop in Windows were experiencing failures in retrieving the native ROES engine, which gave the user a 403 Forbidden error.
Customers who have experienced the 403 error will need to download a fresh launch.msi file here: http://www.roeslaunch.com/ROES/labs/ColorInc/
Customers with existing installs of ROES will be prompted for an update, which should run smooth for the majority. However, the user may receive a message for an “Error 1001” during the update. This is due to a bad stat for files left from a failed install, and requires 3 files to be deleted from C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp: The files are:
RWSCleanup.dll
RWSCleanup.InstallState
RWSCleanup.txt
Once these 3 files are deleted they can run the launch.msi installer or launch from the desktop icon and start the update again. NOTE: AppData is normally a hidden folder, Windows users can use Search and enter %AppData% to get to it quickly and then go to Local and Temp.
ROES Desktop Mac Launch Issue - July 26, 2023
As of the this morning, nearly all of the launch.dmg files have been regenerated and are functioning fine. While the vast majority were done by Monday morning, a few launch configurations still need to be done, mostly due to issues with icon files not found on lab web sites. We have reached out to rectify that with those affected.
For customers, if they see a warning that the ROES application will harm their computer and to remove it, simply have them re-download the launch.dmg for the specific ROES launch and re-install the application, replacing it if prompted to do so. The program should then run fine from the existing desktop icon.
